Gusuku\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Mt. Gusuku<\/p>\n<p>Known by locals by the affectionate name &#8220;&#8221;Tacchu&#8221;&#8221;, this mountain acts as a symbol of Ie Island. The summit, at an altitude of 172 meters, offers a 360-degree panorama of the island.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img2.jpg\" alt=\"Lily Field Park\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Lily Field Park<\/p>\n<p>From mid-April to early May, 1 million pure white Easter Lilies bloom proudly across the wide park, as the the Iejima Island Lily Festival takes place.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img3.jpg\" alt=\"Waji (Underwater Spring)\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Waji (Underwater Spring)<\/p>\n<p>Bubbling up from the water&#8217;s edge along a stretch of steep cliffs, it is an important source of water for the island. An amazing view extends around the spring.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"list_sig\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img4.jpg\" alt=\"Nyatiya-gama Cave\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Nyatiya-gama Cave<\/p>\n<p>Oral tradition says that if you hold up the cave&#8217;s &#8220;&#8221;Vigil Stone&#8221;&#8221;, you will be blessed with a child. During WWII, it was used as a bomb shelter and came to also be known as the Thousand-Man Cave after housing countless evacuees.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img5.jpg\" alt=\"Iejima Auxiliary Airfield\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Iejima Auxiliary Airfield<\/p>\n<p>Before the end of WWII, the former Japanese Imperial Army destroyed it before ever using it. In 1945, the U.S. Armed Forces took control of Iejima and restored it to be used as an auxiliary airfield and training center. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img6.jpg\" alt=\"Ernie Pyle Memorial\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Ernie Pyle Memorial<\/p>\n<p>A monument remembering WWII U.S. Armed Forces War Correspondent, Ernie Pyle. Many Americans living in Okinawa visit for a service held in his honor every year on a Sunday close to April 18.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"list_sig\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img7.jpg\" alt=\"The Monument of Hokon \/ Hokon no To tower\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">The Monument of Hokon \/ Hokon no To tower<\/p>\n<p>A monument remembering the 1,500 townspeople and 2,000 military officers who perished in World War II. A peace memorial is held every year on April 21.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img8.jpg\" alt=\"Ie Beach\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Ie Beach<\/p>\n<p>White sands stretch across a beautiful shallow-water beach. Also has a store, showers and restrooms, as well as a campsite surrounded by pine woods beside the beach.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img9.jpg\" alt=\"Ie Island Hibiscus Garden\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Ie Island Hibiscus Garden<\/p>\n<p>Including Iejima&#8217;s own unique breed, over 1000 varieties of hibiscus can be found in the garden. The Ie Island Hibiscus Festival is held here every year in December.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"list_sig\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/sightseeing\/iejima\/img10.jpg\" alt=\"Iejima Country Club\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"ttl\">Iejima Country Club<\/p>\n<p>Longest short course in Okinawa.
